I have the weight of the world on my shoulders, and I feel like I am cracking under the pressure.

I really don’t know where to turn or what to do, because I’m not allowed to show any weakness, and I have to keep a poker face with everyone in my life. I am a wife of a US Army soldier, the mother of 2 beautiful children, and a daughter whom has taken care of her father since she was 9 years old. These people rely on me for every need, but lately I feel as if I cannot rely on myself. I’m questioning my ability to keep going in life. This is very out of character for me, and started when I found out my father had lung cancer, had to watch him have a lung removed , and take care of him through chemo. With really no outside help to speak of. Not even moral support. All while my husband whom I’ve never spent one night alone from him in the 13 1/2yrs, left to train for the US Army. Those are the big headlines of why I am cracking under pressure, but believe me when I say there are allot of underlying fire pokers in the pot, that just make my wounds feel worse. I just need someone insightful , caring and of a level headed , non judgmental mind to talk to. That I can be completely honest with. But alas , I look around and nothing. Thoughts of running away, getting in an on purpose car accident, or taking a bottle of pills have taken over my mind. I haven’t been able to focus on my children and be the mother I once was , but yet I love them so dearly. So my neglect is haunting me horribly, I feel like a failure. If i can’t keep strong , be a good role model, get this pain out of my heart, why should I even stick around, to end up being a bad role model? I am just so completely spent and miss my husband more than any words I could type here can convey. But if i show that to certain members of my family, I am branded a “wuss”. Got to keep that poker face. I am so hurt by watching the only parent I ever had spiral down hill health wise, all the while not really putting much effort into helping himself. Its like even he has given up. I live in a very small town. Going to the local facilities to try and pay for counseling would red flag me and people would take notice. With everything going on in my current life I don’t even have a minute to myself.

you’re in a rough place, but it’s not the end of the world. you need to find a way to cope and find yourself some time. You are so busy taking care of everyone else in your life, you’re letting the stress hormones take you over. Find yourself a therapist- someone who can listen and advise.
Baring that, find a support group. you’re not alone in this situation. there’s military spouse support groups, mother’s groups, caretaker groups… find one you can talk to.

take some time for yourself. you deserve it.

First, stop and take a break. Just breathe slowly and let your body enjoy the break.

Next, forget the big picture for awhile ( your h, your dad, etc.) Just give it a reast - a day, a week, whatever.

Then, during this interval, just try focusing on little stuff: like getting your girls their meals, getting them ready for school, washing, cooking, i.e. the everyday ordinary stuff.

I think you just need to take a big break; life isn’t going to go away and nothing is going to fall apart while you just chill for a while. And you have us internet to talk to.

Capturing teens and establishing brand loyalty can launch decades of positive yields in the future. Under that, are early adopters (varies), who take what the trendsetter is doing and make it palatable for mass consumption to the mainstream (80 percent). The mass consumer picks up on it, runs with it and actually kills it.”

Essa concentração na reação do leitor/escritor (ver post anterior) não deve ser confundida com putaria pós-estruturalista; não é um "relativismo" [ou "desculpa individualista emprestada de uma interpretação de boteco da Teoria da Relatividade"], não tem nada a ver com o fetiche pós-moderno pelo "self", que é culturalmente determinístico em oposição ao universalismo estruturalista. Qualquer "self", universal ou particular, é ainda um objeto focalizável, é ainda auto-consciência; parte do lixo a ser lavado. Essas "reações que importam" - a "não-punheta" - não devem ser focalizadas, como foi dito, e portanto não podem ser classificadas como universais ou particulares, tampouco como não-universais ou não-particulares; não devem ser classificadas at all, linguisticamente, embora possam ser expressas , linguisticamente, quando livres de auto-consciência. Mesmo indiretamente: o próprio ato negativo de identificar a auto-consciência numa reação pode insinuar aquilo que seria uma "reação que importa", uma não-punheta, trazendo-a de volta à memória, residualmente; assim a postura negativa do faxineiro é ironicamente mais positiva que o esforço crítico positivo do estruturalista, pós-estruturalista/descontrucionista ou new-critic. Uma postura negativamente positiva. Seja um faxineiro, não um hermeneuta, broder - muito menos um hermeneuta pós-estruturalista.

Eu não esposaria nenhuma escola de crítica, por não ter interesse em encontrar caráter universal numa obra, nem por outro lado em expressar como uma obra me afeta pessoalmente. O trabalho analítico a que ainda me vejo obrigado, como leitor ou como escritor, consiste apenas em distinguir o que é lixo, limpando a área para que o resto possa andar sozinho. É um esforço negativo, mostrar o que não é o objeto; enquanto o esforço do crítico é positivo, monstrando - supostamente - o que é o objeto. O problema é que a luz só ilumina o que reflete luz; o resto passa despercebido. Na melhor das hipóteses, incorre-se na circularidade Interpretando o Poeta Poeticamente, fazendo necessário um terceiro crítico, o crítico do crítico, e assim ao infinito, como no argumento aristotélico. A imagem cativa, mas não haveria como remunerar todos eles. Tem também os meios termos. Aí no fim, crítica é a boa e velha coqueteria; essa coisa de empregadas, personificações mesmas do Razão. Mas o assunto é para outra hora. Só vou fazer um comentário sobre o New Criticism. Eu já reparado - e examinado - por conta própria o que soube esses dias ser idéia de dois outros broders, William Winsatt e Monroe Beardsley: a Falácia intencional e a Falácia afetiva (essa última bem bagaceira até). Respectivamente, a idéia de que as intenções do escritor não importam, e a idéia de que a reação do leitor não importa; por eliminação, só o texto importa. Imagino ser consenso agora que para um crítico isso não funciona. Assino embaixo por achar que para um crítico nada funciona - segue vacuamente, como se diz em lógica. Já do ponto de vista do leitor e do artista, concordo com a primeira falácia: as intenções positivas do escritor são em grande parte irrelevantes para o escritor e para o leitor; só as negativas têm alguma influência na obra, sufocando-a ou não. [Adendo: na categoria Positivo incluo também formas indiretas, como as negativamente positivas, para ser um pouco bicha pedante; aliás o negativamente positivo é o único positivo que consigo conceber]. Mas o texto também não importa, e é por isso que na presidência de um país vemos um homem e não um livro. Compro essa do distanciamento do autor, mas não é ao texto que é preciso se submeter e sacrificar a individualidade, e sim à sua própria humanidade - o que restou dela. O que importa, enfim, é a reação, do leitor ou do escritor, e aqui estou negando a segunda falácia, mas em parte. Só algumas reações/afetividades importam. O problema está em determinar quais reações importam; discernir entre punhetas intensas e trepas reais. Quando aplicada aos seus correspondentes artísticos, a distinção é não só difícil, como agora impossível para a maioria dos casos. Somos predominantemente punheta. Punheta intensa nos é acessível a toda hora, em todas as partes, mas intensa ou pau-molística, uma punheta é só uma punheta*; esse novo passo na evolução humana, o homo punheticus, precisa voltar a se concentrar ao máximo em suas próprias reações, como um último recurso desesperado para divisar e preservar aquele resíduo de não-punheta em sua humanidade. A conjunção de uma atitude defensiva ou ofensiva, de um lado, e do outro lado uma disposição submissa, de submeter-se à sua humanidade. You gotta let it grow - even though playing those mind guerrillas.

* Não estou falando só de entretenimento. A definição de "não-humanidade" usada aqui fica para outra ocasião.

Lisboa, 9 set (Lusa) - O Brasil ficou em último lugar em uma tabela sobre investimentos por aluno em 33 países, elaborada pela Organização para a Cooperação e Desenvolvimento Econômico.

Com um investimento de pouco mais de 1.000 euros (R$ 2.439) anuais por aluno, o Brasil ficou atrás de países como Estônia, Polônia, Eslováquia, Chile, México e Rússia, que gastam anualmente entre 2.700 e 1.400 euros (entre R$ 6.586 e R$ 3.415) com cada estudante.

Estados Unidos lideram o grupo com cerca de 9.000 euros (R$ 21.956 - cerca de 20.000 a mais que Brasil), seguidos da Suíça, Noruega, Áustria, Dinamarca e Suécia, com valores que variam entre 8.500 e 6.450 euros (entre R$ 20.736 e R$ 15.735).

Depois dos chilenos, os alunos que mais tempo passam nas aulas são os italianos, holandeses, australianos, neozelandeses, franceses e mexicanos.

A estratégia é restringir as operações que você pode fazer na seqüência - só 3 operações são permitidas - a cada vez que muda a tonalidade.

Marte: frio e confortável hoje.

Endorfina - fluindo quieta, como poeira suspensa num porão.

Idéias vagando em barcos de papel sobre um lago dentro da minha cabeça:

- misantropia;
- imagens de aparelhos matemáticos renascentistas;
- grupo de camponeses em cavalos observando modelos astronômicos desenhados em lápis-carvão no céu;
- garota dizendo que me ama (ontem) - conforto decorrente.

Lugar 1: meu quarto - engolido pelo bolor.

O bolor: verde e vermelho, começou há alguns meses, por causa dos respingos - resultado de vomitar predominantemente fora do vaso sanitário (evitar fazer isso novamente).

Calor, calma, silêncio, papéis pelo chão (desenhos, contas de banco, cálculos de lógica, anotações), tênis fodidos (dois buracos negros devoradores de universos, na parte de trás da sola). Foda-se, penso. Meias de cores diferentes. Tranco a porta e saio pelo pátio escuro, tentando não pisar nos gatos.

Lugar 2: ruas frias à noite, luzes, carros, galeria, subway. Me vejo desviando sempre de uma margem da rua para outra (para evitar as pessoas que estão vindo em minha direção), contorno a galeria, entro na cafeteria, atendente sorrindo, café em copo de isopor, meu reflexo na vitrine (luzes de postes, carros e lojas, bêbadamente dissolvidas na minha imagem). Me sinto calmo - tédio confortável e estertor distante de automóveis. Vejo através da vidraça alguém passar sozinho do outro lado da rua, como um fantasma, que de repente já desapareceu dali.
Ao sair digo boa noite num tom simpático e meticulosamente natural. Sinto aversão pelo sorriso cretino da atendente. O som da rua invade subitamente os ouvidos.

Caminho esperando não encontrar nenhum conhecido. Entro num bosque para garantir e vou ziguezaguendo entre as sombras das árvores - projetadas na grama pelas luzes dos postes. Uma música na cabeça. Ouço minha respiração tranqüila e os meus pés esmagando as folhas. Tudo está vazio - durante o percurso, apenas uma ou duas silhuetas de pessoas vagando sozinhas e indefinidas.
